I’ve decided as I add these Catholic Bible Study posts, I need to try to remember to link some old posts from the archives! These are so much fun to re-read, in many cases, years and years later!
In today’s Catholic Bible Study post, I was reminded of an old post that touches on the topic of modesty, in particular, modesty at mass. This is not a new topic for me and unfortunately, one that I took a very hard stance on–swinging way out there. Thanks be to God I settled into healthy respect and view of modesty. (Here’s a post where I cover my conversion and revelation concerning this hot topic–especially in the Traditional Latin Mass circles.)
Anyway! Back to today’s Catholic Bible Study post. I pray you are enjoying these little notes I’ve taken as I’ve read. But more importantly, I pray you are encouraged to begin or pick back up your own Catholic Bible Study!

Genesis 28:1-29:35, Matthew 9:18-38, Psalm 11:1-7, Proverbs 3:11-12, Sirach 4:19-31.
But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.
Ah, what is the old saying? The days are long but the years are short. But in this case, working for his love, seemed but a few days. This also makes me think of how God’s timing is not my timing and vice versa.
Be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.
“and the woman was healed at that moment.” Lord, I pray for spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional health. Please make me well, help me to live with an encouraged spirit and an encouraging spirit.
Do you believe I can make you see?
So I believe, but it’s always good to go back over, “What exactly do I believe?” And “What do I see”? See the things of God? See things the way God sees them? Yes please!
He felt great pity for the crowds that came because their problems were so great and they didn’t know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd.
2020/2021 The number of times I have wondered where else to go…but the Eucharist…I cannot leave the Eucharist.
He watches everything closely.
The Lord sees me and watches over me.
For one kind of modesty leads to sin, but another kind leads to honor and favor.
I don’t know exactly what this verse is talking about but it made me think of the “skirts and dresses” only debate. Sometimes I have seen the virtues of dressing modestly lost because those same women aren’t modest in their thoughts, words, or deeds and are judgmental of those who don’t wear skirts or dresses only. (Here’s a post from the archives that touches on this subject.)
Don’t favor those so much that you harm yourself or defer to others to the point that you cause your own downfall.
Hmmm…The first thing I think of is that God made me, ME♥ And trying to be or wishing to be anything other can be harmful and cause my downfall, yes?
Don’t be like a lion in your home…
Ah, don’t be two-faced–one way in the home and another way in the pew, or the pick-up line or the sideline.
