Have you ever felt like life was a constant struggle to get by? Like no matter how hard you try, there’s never enough—enough time, enough energy, enough resources? I’ve been there, too. I ask my clients in Christian Life Coaching, what if I told you that this scarcity mindset isn’t the life God intended for you?
God calls us to live with an abundance mindset, trusting Him to provide everything we need…and even the little wants–like a closer parking spot when we’re pregnant with a toddler in tow! This shift in perspective changes everything! We begin to approach challenges, or even just everyday life with a renewed intent and focus, learning how to step into our God-given purpose.
And the more we practice these thoughts, the more we begin to believe, “Life is happening for me, not to me.”
The Abundance God Promises
In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life”
God’s promise is clear: He desires abundance for His children. This doesn’t mean we’ll never face challenges, but it does mean that we can live with confidence, knowing that He will provide for us in those challenges. It can also help us to understand that nothing happens outside the will of God–so those challenges? They are part of the will of God; not His perfect will, but His permissive will.
For me, this shift in my mindset partially came when I stopped focusing on what I didn’t have and started trusting that God was providing exactly what I needed. Whether it’s wisdom, strength, or resources, God provides exactly what we need, when we need it, to fulfill His calling on our lives.
Rewiring Your Mindset with Christian Life Coaching
An abundance mindset isn’t just a feel-good idea—it’s a biblically sound and scientifically supported practice. The way we think shapes our reality, and through the science of neuroplasticity, we know that our brains can be retrained to focus on abundance rather than scarcity.
Here’s how you can start shifting your mindset today:
- Thought Awareness: Pay attention to thoughts like, “I’ll never have enough” or “I’m not capable.” These are lies that keep you stuck.
- Replace with Truth: Speak affirmations rooted in Scripture, like “God provides everything I need to do His will” (Philippians 4:19).
- Gratitude Practice: Gratitude is a powerful tool for rewiring your brain. Start each day by thanking God for His blessings, no matter how small.
The Role of Prayer in Abundance
Prayer is the cornerstone of an abundant life. When we bring our needs and desires to God, we release the burden of control and trust Him to provide. Read that again, “We release the burden of control…” Friend, it’s such a heavy burden because we aren’t in control! The only thing in this life we can control is how we think about our lives.
Before I began embracing abundance, I often prayed from a place of desperation: “Lord, I don’t know how I’m going to make this work.” Now, I try to pray with a stance of faith: “Lord, I trust You to provide in ways I can’t imagine.” …ways I can’t even imagine…how often does the Lord come through for us in ways we can’t even imagine???
This shift has been life-changing. It’s not about ignoring reality–life is hard and messy and complicated at times–but about inviting God into the process and believing He will make a way is such a hopeful way to think and live!
Abundance in Action
Living with an abundance mindset isn’t just about how we think; it’s about how we act. For me, this looks like stepping out in faith, even when I don’t have all the answers. It’s about giving generously, and trusting that God will refill what I pour out.
As a Christian Life Coach, I help women step into this mindset by uncovering the limiting beliefs that hold them back. Together, we work to replace fear with faith, scarcity with abundance, and doubt with trust in God’s promises.
Friend, if we want to give more, share more, do more…all for the glory of God, we need to shift into this abundant thinking mindset.
