I am not new to choosing “My One Word.” I started this practice in 2010 when I thought…well, I thought way too much and scared myself silly. My one word was TRUST. Thinking I had a pretty good handle on trust headed into 2011, I chose JOY. (I wish I had saved some of my old posts from my old blog about my one word.) 2012 was the year of ABIDE. 2013–MODESTY, and 2014–DELIGHT, were kind of duds for some reason–my one word just never seemed to click these past two years. And now 2015 has me choosing My One Word: MORE.

Kind of a funny word for someone who constantly thought last year, “I cannot take one MORE thing Lord.” A really funny word for someone who constantly mutters, “We don’t need any MORE (fill in the blank).” And it seems the older I get, the more I realize the burdens so many people struggle under on a daily basis; life is hard. And to be honest, I’m not really known to be excessive–well, maybe in books, but even now I’m realizing I don’t need anymore books at this point. So MORE? Really?

Yes, MORE…

See? MORE!

Let’s do what I do with words sometimes, I play with them. Some synonyms of MORE–also, extra, further, higher, new, other, major, spare, added, and, another, besides, bounteous, deeper, else, enhanced, exceeding, expanded, extended, farther, fresh, heavier, increased, innumerable, larger, likewise, massed, more than that, numerous, over and above, too many, wider. And of course greater, stronger and mightier and the many scriptures that come to mind.

And then there’s music: Immeasurably More, More than Conquerors, and More of You.

And the scriptures I have found as companions for My One Word: MORE, are amazing. The scripture that started it all comes from one of my favorite books of the Bible, Philippians.

And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow MORE and MORE with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.

You see, I thought my one word was love. But each time I came across love in the scriptures my heart kept running into the word MORE as well…and, well…MORE.
