There sure seems to be a lot people running on empty, holding on by a thread, at the end of their rope, withering on the vine, washed up and worn smooth.  Life feels uncertain and heard. And at a certain point, we may start to feel like, we just can’t…<\/p>\n

Men, women, and children are now battling the world from their perceived perspective of how the way life is, verses how life used to be, and what life will look like going forward. Their perspective is from the workplace, the laundry room or thinking of the now deserted playground.  <\/p>\n

I’ve written a series on Bible Quotes<\/a> that I pray will give you an arsenal to draw your strength and weapons from in the form of God’s Word. Use His Word to stand strong and battle the world<\/em> with the Word.<\/em> <\/p>\n

Today, I’m going to give you a few more tools and weapons for when you just can’t.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When You Just Can’t<\/h2>\n

When we start feeling like “we can’t” it’s a sure sign we’ve been relying too much on ourselves because The Word<\/a> says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Six Things to Do When You Just Can’t<\/h2>\n

1. Breathe In<\/strong>
\nYou know it…we all know it, that feeling of not being able to breathe because schedules and lists and people and the whole wide world is crushing us or smothering us or both at the same time. Breathe in.<\/strong> And when you stop and take this deep breath in, say very slowly, “Jesus;” even if only mentally.<\/p>\n

2. Breathe Out<\/strong>
\nYou have to do number one and two together. So we’ve taken our slow, deep breath in while saying “Jesus.” Now it’s time to slowly exhale while saying, “I love You;” again, even if only mentally.<\/p>\n

3. Go Outside and Look Up<\/strong>
\nI read a quote (that I cannot find now) in the book
A Very Small Farm<\/a> about how most people don’t look up–although I think it was a little more technical and measured it by degrees and angles. So when you start to feel like you just can’t…don’t.<\/p>\n

Step outside for a minute…a literal minute if that’s all the time you can spare. Step outside and look up. Notice the sky–are there any clouds? If yes, mentally describe the clouds to yourself. Do you see trees? Birds? What do you hear? Mentally describe all these things as you look up to yourself. And then thank God.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” <\/em>

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein”<\/em>
\nPsalm 24:1<\/p>\n

4. Go Outside and Look Down<\/strong>
\nYou may even want to take your shoes off for this one. Look down and describe mentally to yourself what you see, feel or hear. Is there grass? Is it cool? Green? Soft? Do you see any ants working? Or flowers? Even the dirt itself. Look down and pay attention like a curious toddler.  And then thank God.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.”<\/em>

“He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.”<\/em>
\n+Psalm 33:5<\/p>\n

But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?”<\/em>
\n+Job 12:7-9<\/p>\n

5. Repeat…”His plans are good.”<\/strong>
\n“For I know the plans I have for you,\u201d says the LORD. \u201cThey are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”<\/em> +Jeremiah 29:11<\/p>\n

God’s plans are always good.<\/strong> Here’s what we need to understand though, the goodness of His plans are not dependent on how we feel about them, what we think about them, or how “good” they look. God’s plans are always good because He is always good.<\/p>\n

6. Respond…”Be it done unto me.”<\/strong>
\n“And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.”
\n+Luke 1:38<\/p>\n

God’s plans for Mary may not have looked so great. She was unmarried, young and now expecting a baby–the Son of God no less–all that should be easy enough to explain (said no one ever). But Mary knew His plans were always good and she responded full of trust in the goodness of His plans because God is good<\/strong>…”Be it done unto me.”<\/p>\n

So there are six simple and easy ways to stay strong and focused when you feel like you just can’t.  Defeat is not from God.  Despair is not from God.<\/p>\n
