Description
I always thought the Book of Hebrews was difficult because in certain parts of the story, it switches back and forth from Old Testament to New Testament, at least I thought. But after reading and re-reading for this Online Bible Study, I realize it’s like talking to an older family member, a grandma for example, and hearing about your family history!
Hebrews Online Bible Study
While preparing for and writing this Online Bible Study, I found a couple of quotes I’d like to share. The first is from Warren Wiersbe, “One of the major themes of Hebrews is: Be Confident!” I loved that quote especially considering this study was prepared and written during quarantine of 2020.
It reminded me, the world is not my home, my confidence is not in this world. I’m not sure where I found the second quote but here it is, “God is shaking things up so that you may learn to live by faith and not by sight.”
That quote was talking about themes found in the Book of Hebrews but as I mentioned, this study was prepared and written during a very shakey time! How providential God!!
Online Bible Study Community Themes
While preparing and writing this study and then going through it as an Online Bible Study Community, there were some other themes that stood out: holding on to the truth, community, and growing in spiritual maturity.
The community theme is a big one! We are called to live in community, it’s a foundation of God’s design for us. For various reasons and seasons, we can be separated from a community of encouraging believers. And yet we need each other!
We need each other for support and encouragement! To help each other grow in spiritual maturity and in the Truth of the Gospel.
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
+Hebrews 10:24-25
One of the benefits of a Christian community and our Online Bible Study Community is the truth spoken. St. Paul address this at the beginning of the second chapter of Hebrews,
So we must listen very carefully tp the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
+Hebrews 2:1
Friends, isolation is a huge tactic of the enemy. He knows when we’re alone or if he can get us alone, we could be easier to trick, persuade, to attack. This of his longest and most obvious attack on our Lord; it happened when our Lord was alone in the desert for 40 days.
Paul gives a clear warning in the third chapter, “You must warn each other every day, while it is still today, so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.” +Hebrews 3:13
These Bible Studies listed in The Littlest Way shop are easy to do studies alone. But I would encourage you to check out our Online Bible Study Community! We use these same studies with the added benefit of a private Facebook Group and a weekly live Zoom call.
More than anything, I pray none of us become complacent in our spiritual life and in our daily encounter with God and His powerful Word through reading our Bible. Trust me, I’ve been there and done that when I didn’t know any better, Not By Bread Alone. Snacking through this life with God will only get us so far and leave us malnourished.
