Nothing like deciding halfway through the year to start a series of posts sharing your thoughts and reflections from your daily Catholic Bible Study…and starting at January 1, 2021. That’s just how my brain works–Welcome, LOL!
I’ve gotten a little behind in my daily Catholic Bible Study using my One Year Bible. Being a blogger and an Online Bible Study leader I figured some public accountability was in order! So I flipped back to January 1 and started writing posts sharing my notes and thoughts.
These notes and thoughts are not hard to understand, deeply theological, or even long, They are just the notes I’ve taken in the margins as I’ve read–not studied. See my daily Bible reading is for quantity, not quality if that makes sense?
My daily Bible reading is about the spiritual discipline of meeting with the Lord in His Word. It’s also about wanting to grow in closer friendship with the Lord. For any relationship to grow, time, effort and intention need to be put into it.
This page will serve as a landing page for all the posts! A quick note about how I do my daily Catholic Bible Study. I read the New Living Translation. This is an enjoyable read for me and I love it! It’s only after I started reading this translation that I started consistently reading the Word. This may not be the right translation for you–that’s ok. It is for me and that’s ok too. Please, do not tell me I shouldn’t or can’t read this translation. To put it simply yet bluntly, your argument will fall on deaf ears.
As I read, if I read something that makes me think, gives me a pause, or some other prompting–I underline it and keep reading. When I’m finished with the day’s reading, I go back through and highlight anything I’ve underlined.
If when I’m reading I have a specific thought, question, or reaction, I write that down in the margin. This can be anything from “Wow!” to “What in the world?!” to “I don’t even understand?” I write it down and go back and highlight it.
One more thing, since this is my One Year Bible, each year I read it, I use a different color highlighter. For example, if I used yellow for that day’s reading in 2020, I use a different color in 2021. I don’t use any specific color coding, just a different color.
