I found a fun prayer in today’s Catholic Bible Study! I’ll share it below when I share the verse it came from; see, reading the Bible doesn’t have to be boring! I had so much fun looking back over January 8th’s readings. According to my color-coded years, I’ve read today’s readings 2018, 2020, and 2021.
So remember, I shared how each year I go through my One Year Bible I use a different color from the previous year for that day’s readings. On this day in 2018 I used a red highlighter, in 2020 I used an orange, and in 2021 I used a turquoise blue.

Genesis 18:16-19:38, Matthew 6:25-7:14, Psalm 8:1-9, Proverbs 2:6-15, Sirach 3:1-16
Then they blinded the men of Sodom so they couldn’t find the doorway.
Lord, please blind my enemies.
When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, for the Lord was merciful.
This makes me think of our Lord telling Peter someone would tie a belt around his waist and take him where he didn’t want to go.
…don’t look back! Escape to the mountains or you will die.
Don’t look back at something God has lead me out of!
Go higher! This makes me think of “Verso l’alto” a quote by Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati
The sun was rising…The next morning…
Morning time with God
But God had listened to Abraham’s request.
Intercessory prayer
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not!
If they don’t add then they take away!
Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.
1. Live for God
2. Make the Kingdom of God my primary concern!
So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
“Just for today”
-St. Therese the Little Flower
First, get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.
Perspective
Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask fo. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened.
Keep on…Persevere…Don’t quit…Trust…Don’t doubt…
If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your heavenly Father give good gofts to those who ask him.
Good point!
…the majesty of your name fills the earth.
The Most Holy Name of Jesus.
…you crowned us with glory and honor.
I am crowned with glory and honor!
Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose speech is corrupt. These people turn from right ways to walk down dark and evil paths. They rejoice in doing wrong, and they enjoy evil as it turns things upside down. What they do is crooked, adn their ways are wrong.
I pray for good holy friends for my children.
A father’s blessing strengthens the homes of his children.
