In today’s Catholic Bible Study, I made the note, “Whoa! She pulled the God card!” I share that because I want you to know, my notes aren’t holy, reverent, poetic, or theological! They’re real. And that’s what makes my Bible reading time enjoyable; I don’t have to pretend with God–He knows I’m thinking it anyway.
This is another year where it shows I’ve read multiple times–2018, 2020, and 2021. I’m not really sure what I did in 2019? Whatever it was, I decided to go back to my daily Catholic Bible Study in 2020 and now 2021.

Genesis 16:1-18:15, Matthew 6:1-24, Psalm 7:1-17, Proverbs 2:1-5, Sirach 2:15-18
It’s all your fault!
Blame is ugly!!
The Lord will make you pay for doing this to me!
Whoa! She pulled the God card!
Return to your mistress and submit to her authority. The angela added, “I will give you more descendants than you can count.”
Sometimes, we are supposed to stay where we don’t want to and submit to the authority over us.
Hagar referred to the Lord, who had spoken to her, as “the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have seen the One who sees me!”
I love this! “I have seen the One who sees me.”
I am God Almighty, serve me faithfully, and live a blameless life.
Command
…but he laughed to himself in disbelief.
True worship is a heart posture. Abraham knelt, but laughed and doubted inwardly. His heart posture wasn’t worshipping.
…she laughed silently to herself…Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh at me?”
Our doubts are not hidden from God.
Is anything too hard for the Lord?
Question: “Lord, why is this so hard?”
Answer: “Is anything too hard for Me?”
Your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!
This is kind of hard to understand? I know the answer to “Why pray then” is contained here. I just need to spend some time asking God and listening for God to answer.
If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
If…Then
Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.
Two questions in one verse:
Where is my treasure?
Where are my heart and thoughts?
You cannot serve both God and money.
Distraction
O Lord my God, if I have done wrong or am guilty of injustice, if I have betrayed a friend, or plundered my enemy without cause, then let my enemies capture me.
Search me (Dangerous Prayers)
Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding.
This could be turned into a prayer, praying the Scriptures.
Those who fear the Lord do not disobey his words…
I have to know His words first!
