Although I’ve read the January 6th readings for my Catholic Bible Study in my One Year Bible in 2018, 2021, and now 2021, it wasn’t until this year that I heard the phrase, “Love what is.” I wrote that phrase over the Old Testament reading where Abram and Lot divide the land and go their separate ways.
I actually made quite a few more notes when I read in 2021 than I had in previous years. Again, the beauty of yearly reading through the Bible for Catholic Bible Study–there’s always something new. The Scriptures state the Word of God is living and active; there’s always something that hits new and different each time I read.

Genesis 13:5-15:21, Matthew 5:27-48, Psalm 6:1-10, Proverbs 1:29-33, Sirach 2:10-14
This arguing between our herdsman has got to stop!…I’ll tell you what we’ll do. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want that area over there, then I’ll stay here. If you want to stay in this area, then I’ll move to another place.
“Love what is.”
Afterward the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son?”
Abram responded to the Lord by talking about what he didn’t have.
And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord declared him righteous because of his faith.
Scarcity verse Abundance
Want verse Have
Trust & Faith verse Doubt & Lack
Your Word is enough. To strengthen your promise with a vow shows that something is wrong.
Hmmmmm????
But I say love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.
