Today’s Catholic Bible Study contained my one word from 2019 and my one word for 2021! I love it when those connections happen! I also share the reason why I think I underlined a couple of verses that just state the names of two of Joseph’s children; again, it’s a connections thing? The more I read my Bible, the more I start to see how it’s connected–front to back.
Re-reading the verses about the wheat and weeds growing up together was a great reminder of why bad things happen in this world. Sometimes I think I forget there’s God’s perfect will and His permissive will. With freedom, comes responsibility and consequence. Nothing is ever entirely free.
Catholic Bible Study
Genesis 41:17-42:17
Matthew 13:24-46
Psalm 18:1-15
Proverbs 4:1-6
Sirach 7:1-22
Joseph named his older son Manasseh
Genesis 41:51
I’m not sure why I underlined and highlighted this other than maybe so I could try to keep track of who’s who?
Joseph named his second son Ephraim
Genesis 41:52
Again, same as above? People in the Bible get confusing–who belongs to whom and who’s married to who.
three days
Genesis 42:17
Anytime I come across the time span of three days I underline and highlight it. It reminds me of the three days Jesus spent in the tomb. It also reminds me the multiple ways the Bible is connected.
Let both grow together until the harvest
Matthew 13:30
The reason why there is bad in the world? Of course, there’s God’s perfect will, there’s also His permissive will. Gosh, this is hard and causes so much tension and friction!
Then the godly will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom.
Matthew 13:43
This is a continuation of the story about separating the weeds from the wheat. I love references to shining for God, shining in God’s eternal happiness, with Him in heaven. And the reminder that I’m meant to shine in this world which is often dark.
I love you Lord; you are my strength.
Psalm 18:1
If I’m feeling weary, whose strength am I relying on? Obviously mine because God’s strength is unfailing and perfect! I need to read and reread this verse!!! The Lord is my strength. Period. Not this, that, or the other…
Pay attention and grow wise, for I am giving you good guidance.
Take my words to heart. Follow my instructions and you will live.
Proverbs 4:1-6
Grow was my one word in 2019
Live is my one word in 2021

Have you checked out my Catholic Bible Studies in the shop? These come with a daily Scripture plan and reflection questions. Some of the longer books of the Bible come with Bible Journaling pages rather than a daily Scripture Writing Plan.
I also host an Online Catholic Bible Study. I will be opening registration right before Advent. The Bible studies available in my shop are previous studies we’re worked through together. We also meet in a weekly Zoom call and have a private Facebook group.
