Description
Friends, I love the story of Ruth and I’m so happy to share this Online Bible Study reading, writing, praying, and studying the Book of Ruth.
One of things I love about this sweet story is the opportunity to see Divine purpose at work. One example is when Boaz tells the harvesters to pull some heads of barley from the bundles and drop them on purpose so Ruth can gather them.
When I read that, it always makes me stop and wonder how many good things in my life, that I might consider a happy chance or circumstance, is actually Divine providence and purpose at work.
Well of course the answer is…All of Them!!!
And then I feel a touch of sadness for all the times I haven’t noticed the gentle care our Lord takes of me and others. And then that gives me the opportunity to offer a prayer of thanksgiving to God, so all is not lost right!
I also always appreciate it when I notice Ruth’s faithfulness, not only to her sweet mother-in-law but also to the work before her. I know there are so many times I slack off a good work and man I sure do hate that!
I also know, through the grace of God, there are times when I don’t slack off, and thanks be to God for those times! But guess which of the two mentioned are easier to remember? The times I’ve slacked…
Probably doesn’t help that the enemy is right there up close in my ear to remind me, humpf!
So friends, if you’re looking for a sweet story of true love and devotion, glimpses into God’s faithful provision, and a thread tying the Old Testament to the New Testament, (Day 28 reflection question helps you make the connection), this Online Bible Study of the Book of Ruth is for you!
