Well, well, well…it’s been a while huh? Let’s just jump right back into these Daybooks and let the last year(ish) sort itself out as we go through the prompts. I will say, I’ve missed these little details of my everyday life. Actually putting the little details into black and white–be it a computer screen or in a notebook–helps me to see that in fact, everything is grace.
Speaking of I’m going to rename these Daybook Online Journal Posts, “Everything is Grace.” It’s time for an updated name that represents more of how I think of these posts. I think of them as a written record of seeing the hand of God in everything, and infusing His grace–weaving it through all. Sometimes I can’t see it in the moment, but when I sit down and start writing these posts, I slowly start to see His hand weaving His grace through even the smallest details of my life.
Thanking God for…
Sometimes it seems like there is so much! And then it also seems like it’s hard to start the list. I know I’m not the only one in a sort of life funk. This past year and a half has been hard on all of us. I have told my family from the beginning, we will not fully understand all the consequences from this last year and a half for years and years to come.
Fortunately, life goes on and for the most part continues, at least for us, fairly normal, but the dark cloud of the past year and a half is always lurking. If it doesn’t affect us directly, a quick social media scroll reminds us of the day-to-day suffering so many are going through–understandable, the entire world as we knew it has changed right before our eyes.
I think life before social media and 24/7 news was at times and in ways so much healthier–we didn’t know what we didn’t know so we couldn’t worry about what might be coming or might never make it to us. Worry, I would say that spirit of fear and worry is prevalent right now; always just in the shadows.
Since it is so prevalent and pervasive we must be proactive! Let’s fill our hearts, minds, and homes with things that make us smile and laugh–not to hide or stick our heads in the sand but to combat the darkness.
Praying for…
So many people, so many intentions. There are people in the hospital, friends losing jobs, major life changes, a need for clarity, health, and healing. I would love to pray for you as well! Please leave your intention in the comments, or just a “Hi” and I’ll be happy to pray for and with you.

Learning…
To let go and be ok with it; none of it is in my control anyway, right. Goodness, isn’t that one of the biggest life lessons, the one we will most likely spend our entire life living in a constant tension with–we are not in control.
Reading…
Ah, my reading is sporadic to none right now. Honestly this entire summer I had…let me correct that, made very little time for reading. I feel it. I have been reading my Bible but not much else. And even reading my Bible, it’s lost that familiar habit feeling. It’s ok, I’ll get it back. The key to regaining it is to ignore my “feelings” and do it by will to regain that habit.
Catholic Bible Study
Our Online Catholic Bible Study is reading, writing, praying, and studying the Book of Romans this month. Wow! Such a great book but so big and meaty!! We’ve literally just been taking it line by line in our weekly Live Zoom Bible Study calls.

I’m not for sure which book of the Bible or topic we’ll cover in October? We’ve mentioned maybe the Book of Tobit?
I’m going to start a series of posts reviewing the Catholic Journaling Bibles. I’ll be reviewing the Inspire Catholic Journaling Bible, the Blessed is She Catholic Journaling Bible, and the Avemaria Press NRSV Catholic Journaling Bible.
Writing…
I’m continuing to slowly add my Catholic Bible Study Notes and Reflections. This has been so much fun for me to look back over this past year’s notes and reflections! And since I’m using my One Year Bible, I can also see notes and reflections from previous years. These are great posts to read if you’re like me and want to know what others are gleaning from their daily Bible reading.
Looking Forward to…
Next weekend is Family Weekend at Benedictine and we are going to spend the weekend with Veronica! We are so excited!!! This is her senior year. I am going to miss this place so much; it will always have a piece of my heart. Benedictine College is one of my most favorite places on earth. So, for the weekend–walking around the gorgeous campus, the kids want to participate in the “Monk Run”, watching a soccer game, visiting the book store, Mass, staying in Veronica’s house, hugging her neck and her roommate’s necks, seeing an internet friend who has children up there (always a highlight!) and just enjoying a beautiful place–spiritually as well as physically.
