Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I’m praying for and about My One Word. Post coming this week about which word I’ve chosen. Here’s a link to my one word for 2014. Chris and I are on Day 7 of Our 9-week Novena.
Pondering…
Oh my goodness what am I not pondering right now! I feel like I need one more week of 2016 so I can be “officially” ready for 2017. I’m pondering being a better steward of my time and talent. I’m pondering what I need–like some dedicated quiet time and space to think things through.
Listening to…
My best friends in the whole wide world–my washer and dryer–doing their thing.
Reading…
My Large Print is still my “Forever Bible” but I’m journaling through my New Jerusalem Readers Edition this year.
I’ll be posting shortly about my 2017 Reading List. I’ve never put one together before and as a result, I read–or don’t read. And yet I buy more books. I pulled down a bunch of books from my shelf I need to read and purchased a few the last week of December. These will be my booklist for the year.
Bible Journaling…
Remember, I’m only using the Illustrated Faith Bible Journaling Kits and Supplies. Here’s a recent entry with an explaination again of why I’m doing this.
Around the House…
I’m reading Building Your House: A Faithful Mom’s Guide to Organizing Home and Family and my sister is reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. I think it will be great to put what we’re gleaned from each together.
In the Kitchen…
I could probably pull the post around this time from the last two years and it would say the same thing, “Eating off the Trim Healthy Mama plan is not worth it to me.” So why do I do it?!? I forget I started eating this way for my health and not my weight.
Diffusing
Joy and Purify. Here’s a link to my post about why I chose to purchase my essential oils through Amazon.
A Great Blog Post
And I’m also pondering (see above) this post, Ask Auntie Leila: 10 Rules for Mothering a 13-year-old Boy. Especially her “Golden Principles of Parenting:
“Reacting is not a parenting technique! You are the adult. You act.
Don’t seek affirmation from your children. You are the adult. You get affirmation from doing what’s best for them. Attitude doesn’t bother you.
Don’t be surprised when things are not perfect!”
The Littlest Way
Over on my Facebook page for The Littlest Way, I shared a GREAT post! I’m going to start asking not only my kids, but also Chris these questions.

Our Domestic Church…
This Friday is the Feast of the Epiphany. Here’s a great link with more information, recipes, and crafts.
Saving Money…
Chris and I are seriously getting back on the budget bandwagon. Our money doesn’t work for us if we don’t! I also need to start budgeting for The Littlest Way.

Wow. I mean, wow! I happened across your blog and stayed to read it all. I’m humbled by your gentle spirit and am so grateful to find a blog that is experientially the way I want my own to be. As of now, I am really trying to rethink who (and Whose) I am, and to reflect Christ’s identity in my own. My husband recently bought me a “The Living Vine” Bible (Messianic) and I’m loving reading it, but it isn’t the one I want to journal in. We’ve got lots of Bibles around here, surely one will be suitable for journaling! Anyway, thanks for the ideas and the help in getting started. Also, if you don’t mind, I think I’ll use your idea for this post to do one of my own in a similar way, over at my blog o-susannah.com. Feel free to look around if you’d like!

I think this is such a lovely way to have an insight into what’s going on in your life. What a lovely blog post concept. I love that your washer and dryer are your best friends, as someone who’s gone without a dryer (no space!) for two years, I feel like I’ve been separated from a long lost friend!
I hope you have a brilliant 2017 x

Thanks for the parenting quote. I have a 15 year old daughter who is quite challenging and I react! She is the one kid of ours who always has to be right and has an answer to everything. I so want to be a part of her life that I do seek her affirmation at times. My older daughter who is almost 17 is just so easy. I struggle not to compare them. My little guy is just a 9 year old all boy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. She makes good decisions and has the right friends so not worried about any of that. She just has a dismissive attitude towards me and can be pretty nasty to her brother. She is respectful of her father which I am thankful for. Sorry I am rambling.
Jenny says
No advice to give, only nodding my head in agreement. And you’re not rambling, your momma heart is showing 🙂

I walked down the stairs on New Year’s morning with my word on my lips and heart. It was quite out of the blue since I could clearly pick the word “surrender” and I’m in fact being led to live that one. Anyway, my word comes up with the thought, “I will not tell the world my word, but I will show them.” And then, I heard the words of Christ say, “Without me, you can do nothing.” So, there you have it. Of course, if you are suffering in not knowing my word, you can email me! Lol.
