Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I am praying for me. I leave next week for a very small blog conference in New Orleans. I do travel some for soccer with Veronica, but never alone…and by plane. I am a ball of nerves. I am praying the Lord will make it all easy–because I still get confused when I drive to my dentist of 15 years. I’m also praying for this world and our children. We went to the State Fair last week and everyone looked so hard– there was tenderness and joy lacking. I’m also praying for a sweet friend–I’ve know here since she was about 10. She’s expecting her fourth baby and gets so sick in the beginning.
Pondering…
I’ve been pondering the Scriptures. Have you been reading the weekly posts, God’s Word Quotes? I think they have been thought provoking–at least my thoughts have been provoked.
I’m also pondering our time at the fair. I love the fair–which makes no sense to this highly sensitive introvert. But the people, well, I mentioned above, they all look so hard and ragged…except the people in the stock barns. The 4H kids and FFA kids. Is it the hard work? The sense of accomplishment? The fresh air? Family involvement? Purely by accident, we ended up at the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion show for cow, pig, goat, and sheep. It was the perfect way to end our day at the fair. Families gathered together, the National Anthem played and sung,
men taking their hats off and everyone standing, and kids being recognized for their hard work. My friend Kathryn is a huge proponent of 4H and her family lives right in the middle of the city! Just to dispel the myth that you have to live in the country to be in 4H. I’m definitely going to look into 4H for my kids this year.

The One Year Bible – Catholic: NLT
I also just finished reading my blogging friend Sterling’s new book, Not Of This World: A Catholic Guide to Minimalism. I’ll post my Book Notes later this week.
Bible Journaling…
I used pieces from Illustrated Faith’s Bible Journaling Kits.
Around the House…
After reading Sterling’s book and clicking around a little, I’m ready to become a minimalist. Please let my family know and tell me how they took the news!
In the Kitchen…
Tonight we’re having Chicken Pot Pie. Bridget requested this for her birthday dinner. The rest of the week will have a variety of chicken because that’s what we have on hand. We do have a steer at the butcher so in the next couple of weeks we’ll be eating high on the hog steer.
Self Care
I walked on the treadmill more days last week than not. But it’s still not consistant, ugh! Lately I’ve been diffusing Align from Edens Garden (Always Free Shipping) and love it. Another favorite to diffuse is Anxiety Ease. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)
A Great Blog Post
I had this talk with my children last night, PLEASE do not ever, ever, never, ever drive drunk, buzzed or just a little buzzed–ever. Call me, I will come get you, no matter when or where. And if I can’t get you, I’ll call a cab to get you. I don’t care if you’re not where you’re supposed to be, with people you’re not supposed to be with, doing things you’re not supposed to be doing. I will gladly come pick you up and the only thing I will say is, “Thank you for calling me.” Here’s the post that prompoted the talk.
Our Domestic Church…
The Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is Wednesday the 11th and Sunday the 15th is the feast of St. Teresa of Avila. I made a shirt in her honor! Bridget asked for this shirt for her recent birthday.
Saving Money…
I remade our budget recently in Every Dollar. Have you tried it? Do you have a budgeting app that you love?
