Hi there and welcome to Day 29 of My 31 Days Writing Challenge. I have really enjoyed writing on a particular topic or theme for the month. It has definitely kept my writing more focused and consistent. To close out the 31 Days, I’m considering a good wife and today let’s talk about a good wife honors her husband. If you’ve been reading here, you know I enjoy looking words up in the Thesaurus. I use a Thesaurus like most people use a dictionary. So I looked up the word, Honor: appreciate, compliment, keep. Of course there were more words, the ones you would expect, admire, celebrate, praise…But I want to consider the lesser known ones I picked out from the list.
A Good Wife in Her Well Ordered Home
Welcome to the final stretch of my 31 Days Writing Challenge. Today is Day 28 and we’re considering a good wife as we read through the book of Sirach. We talked about an intelligent wife and a modest wife; today let’s consider a good wife in her well ordered home.
So a good wife can be defined by how well her home is ordered? Uh-Oh. I could go through some legitimate excuses like a two month long illness, nine of us, traveling, hunting, nine of us…but they would just be excuses. A well ordered home just makes life easier don’t you think? It’s a constant struggle of mine to move and breathe in a well ordered home while granting grace to the nine of us so I’m not constantly walking around saying “Do this…Do that…Why did you not do that or this?” Although I’m pretty sire my children would tell you I say that way too much already and anyway.
A Good Wife: A Modest Wife
Day 27 of my 31 Days Writing Challenge! Well, since I skipped a day it’s day 26, but 26 days in the book of Sirach…awesome! Yesterday we considered A Good Wife: An Intelligent Wife. Have you given much thought lately to what kind of wife you are? Well, today (actually late tonight) let’s consider A Good Wife: A Modest Wife.
When I read this verse in Sirach 26, I immediately knew there had to be more to the word “modest” than just a woman who wore skirts and turtle necks. So I headed over to my bookmarked Thesaurus to see what some of the synonyms for “modest” are. Here are some of the words that stood out to me: humble, quiet, simple, discreet, nice, temperate.
A Good Wife: An Intelligent Wife
I’m continuing my 31 Days Writing Challenge for the month of October. I desired to read and blog through the book of Sirach. For at least the next couple of days, I want to focus on the wisdom the book of Sirach contains for and about wives. Today, let’s consider a good wife: an intelligent wife. What would you consider a good wife? Someone who pleases her husband? A woman who maintains a Pinterest worthy home? Yes, yes and so much more. You know I love the Thesaurus, so I looked up “intelligent” in it and I was surprised by some of the synonyms: creative, original, rational, alert, all there, deep, ready…the list is extensive and very interesting.
31 Days Draft
I woke up this morning, October 25th, with “31 Days Draft” sitting in my editorial calendar. I committed to writing for 31 Days as I read through the book of Sirach. But before I committed to the 31 Days Writing Challenge, I committed to being a wife and mother…and sometimes, those days seem to be lived in “Draft.”
Inspiring Bible Quotes: Don’t Look Back
My 31 Days posts keep getting later and later…If it was thought of before midnight but not posted until after does it still count as Day 23? Of course it does! For Day 23 of my 31 Days Writing Challenge, I’m not looking back. I love it when an inspiring Bible quote comes along at the right time don’t you? This one has come in handy twice in the last 23 days.
