This month our Online Bible Study Community, Kitchen Sink Missionaries, is reading, writing, praying, and studying Proverbs 31. Did you shudder a little? Or cringe? I mean, after all, I did just mention The Proverbs 31 woman; the one we all think we need to emulate but can never reach the high standards of. Hold my flax y’all and get ready for a healthy dose of Valor!
Online Bible Study Community: Proverbs 31
We’ve been reading, writing, praying, and studying together in our Online Bible Study Community for months now. I need to sit down and figure up again just how many verses of the Bible we have written; it’s a lot I know that! We’ve written the books of James, Philippians, Galatians, Ephesians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Psalm 119, and the 7 Penitential Psalms plus Scriptures that told the story of the Passion of Jesus. Whew!
And now it’s time to dig into Proverbs 31, per request no less! But why would we, intelligent and faithful women choose to spend a month reading, writing, praying, and studying such a constrictive book you may ask? Because it’s not. A well known Protestant Minister has been quoted as saying this chapter of Proverbs is “…not building arguments like Paul in Romans, but stringing pearls.” And who doesn’t love a good strand of pearls I ask?
Catholic Bible Journaling: Proverbs 31
Of course, the first thing I did when my friends in our Online Bible Study Community started asking if we could dig into Proverbs 31 was to start working through it in my Catholic Journaling Bible.
When I say, “work through,” let me share an example of what that looks like sometimes. And if you don’t already follow on Instagram, you might want to because that’s where I share a lot of my daily Bible journaling and verse mapping.
Proverbs 31: The Fear of the Lord
So what will this Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study look like? It will look like visiting with a friend, each of you striving for a greater friendship with God to tuck deep in your heart and take back into your homes.
This study won’t be a list of “Thou shall not…Thou shall only…” rather it will be a series of reflections and journaling prompts that will stretch our spiritual and emotional muscles and make us stronger in heart, mind, and soul.
We’ll consider what it takes to be a “Wife of Noble Character,” and a “Woman of Valor;” basically, a countercultural woman. I have a pretty good hunch most of us here are already standing on the opposite side of culture. This study will give you the encouragement that you are not alone and God made you specifically for this time, this place, this family, this man, and these children.
I do hope you’ll joy us in our Online Bible Study Community. We meet weekly in a private Facebook group to discuss and chat about what we are learning as we read, write, pray, and study the Scriptures. We are a dedicated community of lovely women who pray for each other and encourage each other as we strive for a greater friendship with Jesus and the reward of our eternal home in heaven.
But, if you don’t feel like you’re ready or able to join our lovely online community, you can purchase the Scripture Writing Plan and Daily Worksheets separately in The Littlest Way Shop.
