Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what Iβm reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

::Chris’ tireless care for our family
::antibiotics, breathing treatments, cough meds, Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen
::hot baths, Clorox wipes, short ER wait times
::excellent Pediatrician
::time to begin to heal and recover
::green grass
Praying…
I’m totally praying for myself and family. I have just come through a week where I have never been sicker in my entire life. And then to have my children so sick as well and there was literally nothing I could do to help them because I was so sick.
Pondering…
If we can put people in an international space station to live, why can we not come up with a better way to test for flu than an extra-long Q-Tip up the nose until it hits the brain?
Listening to…
the washing machine struggle to swish our extra large quilts
Reading…
nothing
Bible Journaling…
I did get in my new Illustrated Faith Bible Journaling kit–A Heart that Receives. I finally feel good enough today to being opening my mail. I haven’t read or journaled in my Bible this whole time–not even read y’all. I did lay my hand on my Bible the other day for comfort, but that’s it.
Around the House…
You can imagine. We’ve all done the best we can–which has been pretty good considering.
In the Kitchen…
My desire to make something healthy and nutritious verse my ability at this point are two very different things.
Diffusing
Yesterday I put in Purify and Cleaning. We’ve been applying Respiratory Ease and Fighting Five to the soles of our feet. I put some Lavender on a cotton ball in Luke’s ear to help ease the ear infection pain–yes, ear infection on top of flu.

Eight Reasons to Turn Out the Lights During Lent
The Littlest Way
I started a post on my prayer room/war room before I got sick, hopefully I finish it this week.
Saving Money…
The day I went to Urgent Care and was diagnosed with flu and was questioning if I could even drive myself back home, my debit card was declined. After assuring the nice ladies at the the Urgent Care desk I had no other way to pay as they started me down in my weakness, I did in fact make it home and called my bank. The good news was, they had detected fraudulent activity on my account so they shut my card down. The bad news was they forgot to call and tell me. Only 2 charges totalling $51 were made before my card was shut down and I should be able to recoupe them as soon as I’m well enough to make it to the bank and sign the necessary papers.

hello, again, I too am just getting over the flu that was compounded by pneumonia!!! just 2 wks before I got sick I had had breast surgery…..needless to say I have “been thru the mill”!
I hope your kids are also on the mend….and your husband must be as wonderful as mine is….what a blessing God gave to the both of us!!!
Jenny says
Whoa! Beverly you have been through the mill! Happy Lent to you π I pray you are recovering in mind, body and soul.

hello, you asked for the smell I remember from childhood…..well that depended on where I was…
at my home, my Mama and Daddy both smoked, so you know what that smell was…but we lived on a farm, and I remember the different smells from the barn…the hay, the “poop”, the smell of the cows…yes, they had a definite smell. when my Mama cooked bread, I LOVED to smell the yeast bread cooking!!!
then at my Grannie’s house, she cooked biscuits!!! the BEST BISCUITS ever!!!
those are my favorite smells from childhood!

I used to bake bread a lot. Last night we made pretzels and my kids told me how much they missed the smell of baking.
Katie says
Hi, Jenny…whew! What a week you’ve had! Prayers for continued recovery for all and hoping for some sunshine literally and emotionally in your home. You and your family definitely deserve it.
Jenny says
Thanks Katie! Today looks like it will be sunny and we have multiple soccer games so I’m going to try to enjoy the day before more rain comes in.

I am so relieved for you that your bank flagged the fraud and quickly shut down access to the account despite the difficulties caused by the freeze and the lack of communication about it. Sickness is yet another opportunity to be awed by and humble before God, even moreso when you can’t provide your family the care they desperately need. I am praying for you all.
Jenny says
Thanks Kelly, we are all pretty much recovered. I think for me part of what made it all seem so bad was: 1. I was too sick to be able to care for my sick children and 2. I realized after the fact all the opportunity I missed to see God in the flu–as funny as that sounds.

Hi Jenny! π i feel so sad to see your little one with that breathing machine. My little one had bronchitis and had to do the breathing treatments also, it was hard but he was so good. I agree with you on the flu test, it is horrible!!! Praying for your whole family and for you, that you continue to heal from your surgery. Sending you lots of love and prayers π
Jenny says
Thank you Claudia. I had to postpone surgery a month to give myself time to heal from the flu.
Jenny says
Thanks for your prayers Claudia. Those breathing treatments are life savers–literally. Because we were all so sick I rescheduled surgery for the end of April.
