Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

Pondering…
Learning hard lessons…the hard way.
Listening to…
I want to listen to opera. Sunday, while talking to a fellow soccer mom, we were talking about music. I like all kinds of music but have never been able to get opera. Later in the conversation, turns out she has her Master’s in vocal performance! So, I want to try to listen to opera. Any good recommendations?

I’m also listening to Let’s All Be Brave on Hoopla.
Around the House…
Getting things ready for my short trip. I want things to be as easy as possible for everyone here; cleaning, grocery shopping and such.
In the Kitchen…
Since I’ll be gone a few days, I’m buying “keep it easy convenience” foods.
Self Care
Although my surgery was almost six months ago, I do still notice I can get tired easier. So, my self-care this weekend has been to come straight in from the soccer game and trip, take a hot shower and short nap. On another note, I wore Sunshine Spice as perfume today and really liked the Fallish scent. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)

Start here 🙂 My husband who is a tenor and has a Masters in vocal performance will add to this list, I’m sure! I tried to pick some of the best in the biz (in my opinion). They’re listed with performer first, title of piece, and then the composer. Happy exploring!
1. Fritz Wunderlich, “Dichterliebe” Robert Schumann,–a beautifully warm tenor voice. This is an entire song cycle, so you could just listen to a sample or the whole thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZLjf_m6j0A
2. Nicolai Gedda, “Salut, demeure chaste et pure”, Faust https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m_Jas-OEFE This one makes me cry, especially with the violin at the end!
3. Lucia Popp, “Song to the Moon,” Dvorak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qxi-sYUT9s
4. Jussi Björling & Robert Merrill, duet; Pearl Fishers, Bizet, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PYt2HlBuyI&list=RD5PYt2HlBuyI Sung at my wedding! Weee 🙂
5. Joan Sutherland, Où va la jeune Hindoue” (known as Bell Song), Delibes
6. Luciano Pavarotti, Di quella pira, Verdi, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0_UG2UnM7o Always exciting. Love the men’s chorus!
Enjoy 🙂
