I mentioned in this post about being smart enough to read your Bible that after sifting through emails and messages I found a couple of common “questions, concerns, and cries of complaint” as an old teacher used to say. I broke these questions, concerns, and cries of complaint down into internal and external problems and in doing so realized, we need to learn how to join a Bible Study. (READ TO THE END FOR A SURPRISE INVITATION!)
As an online community, I wanted to see if there was a way to tackle our most common fears, hesitations, and outright obstacles when it comes to reading our Bible. I’m happy to report, we can! So in this post, I’m going to encourage you, share the importance of, and then show you how to join a Bible Study.
Now, this may sound funny coming from an introvert wannabe hermit, but Christian women need a Christian community of women for support; the Lord knows the world bombards us with the exact opposite! Those of us who want to read our Bible regularly, need a regular Bible reading community, it’s that simple.
The above facts are true for me personally. Since the original date of this post a couple of years ago, I know having our Online Bible Study Community has kept me more consistent (not perfect) than if I wouldn’t have been involved in it. I’m sure I could find legit statistics if pressed but all I really need to know is this,
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
+Hebrews 10:24-25
And this,
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
+Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
And this one,
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
+Matthew 18:20
We’re struggling because we’re alone. Wait, I know, you might say, “I’m not alone, I belong to large, active church with a dynamic women’s Bible study group with yummy snacks!” I respond by saying, “Great for you!”
Speaking from personal experience, put me in a group of women I’m going to see every week, whether at Bible study, church, the grocery store or the school pick-up-line, and I might prefer the role of listener and cookie eater rather than active participant! You know I’m right.
Add to the group my dental hygienist, church secretary, and that one “perfect” mom in the school pick-up line and I might not dig deep into my soul because I’m too concerned about hiding my hot mess self from them. But, put me behind my computer or phone screen, wearing my pajamas if I want, eating my favorite snack and drinking my favorite drink and I just might start digging deeper into myself and sharing all sorts of revelations; maybe with myself first and then slowly with the group.
So, How Do You Join a Bible Study?
You have two options! You can click this link and get started–jump right in! Let’s do it girls! Let’s commit to spending time in community reading the Word of God. Not only reading but digging deep into the Word of God and ourselves. I know when my mind, body, and soul feel like they’re just dragging along, or I’m lacking some clarity, direction, and peace, time spent in the Word, with like-minded women doing the same is just the reset I need.
Our Online Bible Study Community is just the reset! There are printable worksheets to use as we work through the Word–chapter by chapter in a book of the Bible or in a topical study. There is a “Write the Word” plan so that each day we write a few verses or if we’re reading a large chunk of Scripture we have Reflection Journaling printables including Character Study worksheets.
We meet in community once a week in a private Facebook Group for a live video or a Zoom call. There are frequent prompts and notes of encouragement dropped in our private Facebook group as well. I also try to include something fun like a lock screen for your phone and desktop.
*By the way, if now isn’t a good time, I get that. And in all transparency, this past year has been scattered on my end–it was a challenging year. Our Online Bible Study Community has managed to limp along. I would like to invite you to join us for five days, June 26-30 for a free study, “Community in the Bible.” Click this link to get your free Scripture Writing Plan and private Facebook Group invite!

I’m doing a graduate course on St. Paul’s letters now – I’ve never really read him before this, but I am finding him so inspirational as an evangelizer!
Jenny says
Wow! A graduate course, I bet it’s amazing ♥
Jennifer says
Do I have to have a Facebook account to participate? I don’t have one and want to see if it’s necessary to participate in this study. I appreciate the info.
Jenny says
Hi Jennifer. The live chats will be on Facebook. I know some people don’t have it and totally understand. For now though it’s the quickest, easiest, and the most inexpensive way to “meet.” The recorded videos will be available here on The Littlest Way.

What a great idea! If I wasn’t already doing a study right now (along with all the summer activities we have going) I would totally jump on board…and I still might. I was actually just thinking about going through Philippians with my boys, so maybe this is a sign I need to do this.
Jenny says
I love that you’re thinking about going through Philippians with your boys!! You are the kind of mom trying to raise boys who will grow into the men some momma is praying for right now as the future spouse of her little girl. Does that make sense? Because it did in my head, lol!
Christie says
Yes, it did make sense and thank you for saying so 🙂 With the Lord’s guidance, we are doing our very best!
