Hey there world…y’all…you guys. There’s something that has been on my heart recently and it’s obviously been on your mind. How do I know we’ve been thinking the same things, by the things you’ve been whispering in my children’s ears. My children are on both of our minds. Although I totally and completely dislike confrontation…I love my children and family and if a confrontation it is…then a confrontation it is. Please know, I don’t think you are intentionally malicious…for the most part. I do think you are uninformed, ignorant and sometimes just go along with all the noise instead of thinking for yourself…world. So let me start there, please start thinking…for yourself….about others. Let’s consider this words of wisdom…or warning…from a momma bear.
To the World…Love Momma Bear

World, I want you to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions…but there is a catch. I want your conclusions to come about through serious thought…not random clicking. I want your conclusions to be the result of reason…not reaction. I want you to consider the source and its intentions before you open your mouth and start spouting your ideas. Most of all I want you to consider your source–where did you come from and why are you here–and draw your information, reasoning and conclusions, from Him. God the Father created you for a great and noble purpose…consider that amazing fact…and then strive to live up to it and help others do the same. And if you can’t or won’t do that…then please remain silent. Your ill gotten “knowledge” is of no use, especially to me or my family. This isn’t as hard as it sounds. Maybe just stop and think, “Is this good advice? Is this the advice I would need–NOT want or had needed–NOT wanted at a young age? Whose best interest–if any–do I have here? Is there something better?” That last question, “Is there something better?” it’s a good one; use it often.
Second, think before you speak. I know you know that, but now let’s put it into practice. Make sure you make sense before you share what you supposedly know. Just because you’re bigger, doesn’t mean you’re smarter and just because you’re louder doesn’t mean you’re right…it just means you’re big and loud. Big and loud may get you somewhere, but where? And at what cost? The first thing I think of when it comes to something big and loud is a bomb. A bomb that can leave non specific and un-targeted or misdirected destruction in its wake. And although you are comprised of a good amount of evil, I don’t think you’re all evil. But please, do not put my theory to the test and especially not with my children.
Third, know your place. You’ve got some pretty crazy, definitely harmful, sometimes outrageous and many times questionable ideas. My husband and I have spent the last, almost 18 years, working to raise children who are not crazy, harmful, outrageous and questionable. As a matter of fact just the opposite. When you start trying to make crazy look fun, harmful appear safe, outrageous normal and questionable just a natural part of life…listen closely because I need you to hear this with both ears…you are over stepping your bounds with my children and it will not go unnoticed. I will expose you. I will expose you to my children. I will expose you to new moms navigating this parenting thing. I will expose you to other families who are striving to be better and offer their children more than you often promise and always fail to deliver. I will expose you for what you really are and where you are coming from…and then I will bind your sorry self to the foot of the cross to be judged by my Lord. Oh yes I will.
I see you for what you really are and I will treat you as you deserve to be treated. Your motives, ideas, suggestions and ways of life are from the pit of hell. You take your orders from the Prince of Darkness with the sole intention of luring souls into anger, confusion, despair, depression, isolation, fear, and compromise. Your motto is the old familiar saying, “Misery loves company.” But, greater is He that is in me, than you who are in the world. See, I’m not playing around. I know this is a war on my family…for my family. I will not battle you with feel good words, pleas for attention, promises of friendship, compromise or exceptions of “it’s just a phase.” I will come at you full on with the whole armor of God so I am able to stand against you. I will have on my belt of truth. I will have on my breastplate of righteousness. I will bear the Gospel of peace on my feet. I will take up my shield of faith, my helmet of salvation and my sword of the Spirit–which is the Word of God. You can try…but it will eventually make your defeat by a little ‘ol momma of seven on her knees all the more humiliating.
World, I’m not controlling…I’m cautious. I’m not domineering…I’m discerning. I’ve been around–unfortunately. I’ve listened to you and it got me no where good. They say every generation wants better for their own children and I am no exception. But, not only do I want better for my children, I want the best for my children and quite honestly…you don’t. Move along because you are not welcome here. I will push you out, pull you away and pray you gone.
I’m glad we had this little talk. Now you know…I know. I know who you are, where you come from, who and what you want and I see you prowling around. Just know I see you.
[Tweet “My guard is not down and my eyes will not look the other way. Don’t mess with a momma bear.”]
I love everything about this. You remind me of my momma and I love that lady so much. Growing up we always thought she was over protective. Now that I am a momma of 3 (even though they are all still young) I see that same momma bear rising up in me.
I hope you don’t mind if I share this. It really is great!
Thank you Alonda, please share away! I always tell my children, “Hopefully someday you’ll know and appreciate why dad and I made some of these rules.” I know they love and appreciate us now, but like you said, you see it differently now that you’re a momma.
Amen! May the Prince of Peace reign eternal!
And all the mommas said, “Amen!”
So bold and courageous! Your children are blessed to have a mama who knows truth and does her fighting on her knees. What a gift!
Thank you Katie! Some days fighting on my knees might look like laying in my bed at 2am praying my little heart out, lol!
you go, girl – WOW! 😀
Thanks Andi. We have to, you know. No one else will fight for our children like we do.
Love this! It is perfectly and wonderfully balanced. Thank you for sharing!
I’m not a mom but I have one, and she’s got all mama bear qualities! Great writing 🙂
So you know, as one of her “cubs” don’t cross a momma bear; it will never turn out well.
Soooo good!!!
Thank you Stacie.
