I was thrilled to receive Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear. Take the Leap. Live On Purpose. from BookLook Bloggers. I have read Lara Casey’s blog and follow her Instagram feed and knew not only would I enjoy reading her book, I would also want to share it as part of my Book Club Time series of posts. As we get started, let’s quickly look at the subtitle, “Surrender Your Fear, Take the Leap, Live On Purpose.” I feel like should have ended that sentence with an exclamation point!
Book Club Time: Make it Happen
Ah. someday…or tomorrow..a couple of my infamous last words of the day. And yet tomorrow always comes with it’s own price and the more I repeat, “someday” or “tomorrow”…the farther out “someday” and tomorrow get. I very much like St. Paul in this manner, “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” (Romans 7:15) Lara Casey encourages us to “Do the good you know you ought to do–and start now.” Or as I said recently, “Start where you are.”
You know what I thoroughly enjoyed about Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear. Take the Leap. Live On Purpose., her complete honesty. Not just in her story but in her process of telling her story; she admits her fears because Lara Casey is not a trained writer…but she has a servant heart and a capable God.
As I read the book, which I intend to pass on to my seventeen old daughter, I kept reminding myself of a quote Lara shared at the beginning; a quote from her friend Emily Ley,
Wouldn’t that have been nice to learn or at least hear as a young woman about to enter a great, big world? Make it Happen is part book, journal and worksheet–the perfect mix of anecdotes, blank spaces and tough questions.
The chapters are not only aptly titled, but wonderfully subtitled
Chapter 2–Meet Your Fear (Exchange your fear for faith)
Chapter 4–Find an Anchor (Choose what matters)
Chapter 5–Decide You Can (Bellieve in the possibilities you can’t see)
As you can see by now, I’m a fan of Lara Casey and her encouraging book!
Remembered when my post, Jesus Meek and Humble of Heart? Here’s another great quote from Lara Casey,
If you are looking for an encouraging read, a “New Year’s Resolution” read without the fluff of false starts and endless stops, Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear. Take the Leap. Live On Purpose. should be on your teetering book stack now. This book would make a great women’s book club read or a lovely mother daughter read.

It sounds like a great book–I especially like the idea of holding myself to a standard of grace instead of perfection. Wise words!
Jenny says
Aren’t those words great? I try to keep repeating them to myself as I move through my day that never quite looks like I image first thing in the morning.
