Lent Devotional for Women

This page will be the landing spot, the index for all the Lent Devotional for Women posts. As an introduction, let me tell you how my Lents seem to go. My Lents typically go one of two ways. Either I head into Lent completely depleted and ready to rest at the foot of the cross so I can recharge at the feet of Jesus. Or, I come in with some great plans to refine and pump up my spiritual life and instead end up being dragged–kicking and screaming no less, to the foot of the cross. In reflection, in both cases I end up at the same exact spot; it’s the journey that gets me there, either by will or by way, that is the yearly wild card.

This Lent Devotional for Women honestly began for me, much like my Advent Devotional for Women. I needed some structured reflection…but not too much! Some accountability…but not just one more thing I had to do! And some encouragement…but not saccharine, feel-good wish-wash!

So I started thinking and praying. I tried being interiorly quiet regardless of how things looked or especially felt on the outside. And I read one book. I mentioned lately my issues and resolve with books. Before I stuck to and read one book during Lent, I ended up reading zero books during Lent. Decision fatigue at its finest and that’s when the cost for holiness does indeed become too much. Devotions for Lent shouldn’t have that high of a cost.

A funny thing about choosing quietness, simplicity is allowed to step forward and little by little, chaos becomes clear. Little things like, “Do I need another cutesy pen like the one I saw on Instagram?” Or realizations like, “Maybe a planner never works out for me because I switch so often.” And harder truths to face like, “Maybe I don’t hear from God or feel His presence because I’m never quiet enough to hear Him or still enough to feel Him.”

Quietness can reveal changes that need to be made. So we stay noisy. #lentdevotionalforwomen

This Lent Devotional for Women is an invitation to get quiet. To be quiet and to stay quiet. But not alone. And I think sometimes we think to be quiet we have to be alone. And alone can be scary. It can be a scary feeling when we’re not used to the quiet. But we’re not alone here in this place.

We can be still and quiet and reflective and yet rely on each other this Lent because sometimes we just need to know someone is standing next to us and they’ve got us covered in prayer. So welcome to this community and Lent Devotional for Women page…we’ve got each other.
